I’m Aryan Ashraf (he/they), the current Editor-in-Chief of the Orpheus Review. I’m a junior (class of 2025) double majoring in biology and English literature (with a specialization in creative writing). I am interested in all types of music, and I love learning about the decisions artists make for their songs, their visuals, and more. My friends have also told me that they usually never know any of the artists I ever listen to or talk about, and I think I am finally coming to terms and coping properly with that fact. I also have a vinyl collection that I am quite proud of. Some of my favorite artists include Shygirl, FKA twigs, Sevdaliza, Arca, Kelela, Bjork, Yeule, and PinkPantheress, and one of my favorite lyrics is “Don’t worry this face / Hold my hand in error / Don’t tell of this place / It’s for me and you only” from “Ultraviolet” by FKA twigs.

I’m Ben Rotko (any pronouns), and I am a junior from Long Island, New York. I’m a Political Sociology major and Film & Media Studies and Peace & Conflict Studies minor. My favorite artists include Muse and U2, and I listen to a wide array of artists in the hard rock and heavy metal genres. I also co-run Olde Club and like to go to house shows in Philly. One of my favorite lyrics is from “The Ghost of Tom Joad” by Bruce Springsteen (specifically the 2011 electric version with Tom Morello): “Well the highway is alive tonight / But nobody's kidding nobody about where it goes / I'm sitting down here in the campfire light / With the ghost of old Tom Joad.”

I’m Tristan Haeger (he/him), and I’m a junior from Bellevue, Washington. I am majoring in Astrophysics and minoring in art history and computer science. I enjoy listening to all types of music but definitely listen to hip hop and indie rock more than anything else. Mac Miller, Young Thug, King Krule, and BIllie Eilish are a few of my favorite artists, and my favorite song lyric right now has got to be “We ran up them digits we ran up that money [x6]” - Young Thug

Hi! I’m Elijah Santos (he/him) and I’m a sophomore from Guam. I’m planning to major in Engineering and minor in music. I love various genres of music but my favorite is definitely art pop. My favorite artists include: Caroline Polachek, Elliott Smith, Fiona Apple, Kate Bush, King Krule, Mitski, Natalia Lafourcade, St. Vincent and Weyes Blood. Lana Del Rey’s verse from “Sweet Carolina” never fails to make me laugh: “You name your babe Lilac Heaven / After your iPhone 11 / ‘Crypto forever,’ screams your stupid boyfriend / Fuck you, Kevin.”

I’m Hope Dworkin, and I’m a sophomore from New York City, double majoring in Art and Art History. My most listened to artists right now are Elliott Smith, Ty Segall, Radiohead, and Wynton Kelly. I want to listen to more electronic music. I’m also the station manager at WSRN (91.5FM!) and help organize concerts at Olde Club.

My name is Michael Ugwe. I am a junior from Kenya and a prospective computer science and math double major. I pretty much cycle through every music genre but I am pretty heavy on soul, RnB, hip-hop, and Westside Gunn’s adlibs. Some of my favorite artists are Anderson .Paak, Kaytranada, D’Angelo, FKA twigs, Kendrick Lamar, Amy Winehouse, Sampha, Obongjayar,  Blood Orange, slowthai, Amaarae and Tyler the Creator. My favorite bar is “brrrrrrrrrr*∞! Boom boom boom boom boom! Ayo!” - Westside Gunn. I also think you shouldn’t really worry about your Spotify Wrapped, and you need not be ashamed of listening to Drake.

I’m Katie Ryu (she/her), and I’m a junior from Los Angeles, California. I’m a English Literature and Environmental Studies double major. My favorite music-related things in life include concerts and live music, exciting film scores, and the art of karaoke. One of my favorite lyrics has to be from “Your Best American Girl” by Mitski: “Your mother wouldn't approve of how my mother raised me / But I do, I finally do.”

My name is Minwoo Han (he/him), and I’m a junior from South Korea. I’m double majoring in Linguistics and Visual Arts. Music-wise, I enjoy listening to genres like rock, jazz, and classical music. My favorite lyrics, if I had to choose, would be from David Bowie’s collaboration with the genius mind of Brian Eno, “Sound and Vision:” I will sit right down, waiting for the gift of sound and vision.
